Working for the Forsyth County Public Defender’s Office isn’t employment – it’s an adventure!  Our office hosts intern, extern and clinic students throughout the year from law schools throughout the country.  Internships during the school year are generally part-time and coordinated around the student’s academic schedule.  Summer internships are generally full time during regular business hours.

The internship program offers a unique opportunity to gain exposure to the practice of law.  Participants find the internship both interesting and educational, giving students the opportunity to integrate their classroom knowledge with hands on work experience.  The Public Defender’s Office offers flexible 6, 8, and 12 week internships to assist experienced attorneys in all phases of criminal cases.

Because we are a government agency, all of our intern positions are unpaid.  We are particularly interested in law students who are passionate and dedicated, although we will occasionally accept undergraduate students and law school graduates who have not yet taken the bar exam.

Our internships application can be completed online HERE.
